Secretaries report on 2005
Milnrow Sea Anglers Secretaries Report 2005
Membership has remained high although 25% of members have not been on any club trips or in some cases attended meetings.
Boat Trips a lot of cancelled trips at the present time out of 25 scheduled trips 12.5 trips or 50% have been cancelled mostly for the weather but some because of boat breakdown or skipper injury with 2 trips left lets hope next year is an improvement.
It should also be noted that on some trips weather was not very kind and inshore trips resulted.
Results have been variable with some nice fish being caught and good numbers of species on some trips .
This year has seen a record number of species being caught with 34 species in total and leading angler PW on 23 anew record for the club.
Biggest Round fish a 25lb Tope John Knox
best Flat fish Thornback Ray 7lb 6 oz Graham Coupe
best wreck fish 15lb Pollack
New club records for Common Smoothhound Rich Rowlands (New species)
Starry Smoothhound Jim Kelly
Three Bearded Rockling Paul Whiting
Notable Trips were Fleetwood Smoothhound trip and Bass trip with Bass to 7lbs 12oz to Jim Kelly.
Aberystwyth 3 day trip with a species haul of 22 the highest of the year.
Port Dinorwick(Caernarfon) wrecking with nice Pollack to all onboard
Most disappointing event was getting 60 miles down the Motorway on a trip to Pwllheli to be turned back due to the weather.
Next year will see more of the same quality trips Hopefully with better weather with the addition of Brixham in Devon in March and possibly Weymouth in May.
There is still a good amount of interest in an Ireland trip in October.
Aberystwyth has been booked also for the 3 day fish
Anyone wanting to stay the Tuesday prior please let me know as there has been some interest
Shore Fishing
Mark as shore secretary Invited to speak
Some Good Mersey trips earlier in the year resulting in some quality Codling to 5lbs .
Bangor pier proved popular again with a good turn out and plenty of fish being caught .
Membership problems have occurred during the year which have resulted in a disciplinary policy being created which will be discussed later.
Several members will not be rejoining and others will re-join and not fish. To keep membership at the present level new members are being allowed in to the club and Membership will again be capped at 40. Members not fishing last year will not be counted in the Club total but will also not be restricted from joining the club.
