John Knox might smile with this great 17 lb Cod
Milnrow Sea Anglers Trip to Weymouth June 2007

16 members of Milnrow Sea Anglers spent 2 days fishing in Weymouth on 2 of the top Boats Revolution Skipper Josh Simmonds and Lady Godiva Skipper Dave Gibson. Both Boats are Evolution 38 and what cracking boats these 2 are plenty of room and bags of power.
The first days fishing was for Bass but conditions were far from easy with wind against tide and choppy seas on the Portland Race which proved difficult for some anglers. Bass around the 5-lb. mark were caught. Revolution tried various marks on the reefs and banks and Ken Costello managed an 8-lb. 2-oz Bass on a pirk and feathers.
Other species caught on the first day were Pollack to 4 lbs. and a nice cod of around 8 lbs. for Roger Bradbury our member from the Bristol area Bass totals were 10 for Lady Godiva best around 6 lbs. to Mark Douglas and 7 for Revolution.
Next day the Crews changed boats and went Wrecking and Reefing. Aboard Lady Godiva a stop for mackerel round the corner of Portland, and then a 30 Mile steam to fish amongst the Mid channel wrecks, proved very rewarding. With Cod to 17 lbs. for John Knox and Pollack to 17 lb. for Secretary Paul Whiting plenty of double figure Pollack and cod in the 6 lb. range followed to produce a very good haul for the anglers aboard.
Revolution Steamed in a different direction to fish Wreck and Reefs for a good haul of Pollack and Cod best Cod 15 lbs. to Graeme Douglas Treasurer and similar sized Pollack to Brother Mark.
Other species caught over the 2 days were Mackerel Sandeel and Pouting.
Looking forward to October and our next trip to Weymouth.
